About the journal

The Journal of International Medical and Health Sciences (JIMHS) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal serving physicians, clinical researchers and allied health professionals. It publishes original research, reviews, systematic reviews, case reports, short communications and editorials across internal medicine and its specialties, including infectious disease, hepatology, endocrinology and clinical nutrition. The journal is particularly interested in studies from health systems with different resources and disease patterns, where clinical questions and practical constraints are often distinct from those addressed in the dominant literature.

Every manuscript is assessed through double-blind peer review, with at least two reviewers and an academic editor evaluating clinical relevance, methodological soundness and the clarity of reporting. JIMHS expects adherence to recognized reporting guidelines, including CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA and CARE. Articles are published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license. Through continuous publication, each article is released online once it is accepted and finalized, and is then assigned to the current issue.

Aims and scope

JIMHS aims to publish clinically meaningful research that improves the prevention, diagnosis and management of common and neglected medical conditions. The journal prioritizes work that addresses questions faced in everyday practice, including the performance of diagnostic tests in different populations, the effectiveness of treatments outside trial settings, and the clinical consequences of infectious, metabolic and nutritional disease. By bringing together evidence from hospitals, primary care and community settings across regions, the journal seeks to support clinicians in adapting international guidance to the patients and resources they actually encounter.

Topics within scope

  • General and acute internal medicine
  • Tropical and infectious diseases
  • Hepatology and gastroenterology
  • Diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism
  • Clinical and public health nutrition
  • Antimicrobial use and resistance
  • Cardiometabolic and renal disease
