How charges work
There are no subscription or pay-per-view fees for readers. Publication is funded by an article processing charge (APC), paid by the authors, their institution or their funder once a manuscript has been accepted.
No submission fee
Authors are invoiced only after acceptance. The ability to pay is never considered in editorial decisions, and editors have no access to payment information.
What the charge covers
- Editorial handling and management of peer review.
- Copyediting, typesetting and production of the HTML and PDF versions.
- DOI registration and structured citation metadata.
- Permanent open access hosting of the article and its supplementary files.
Charges by journal
One charge applies per accepted article, whatever its length or article type. Charges are in US dollars and exclude local taxes.
Waivers and discounts
- Low-income economies
- A full waiver for corresponding authors based in countries the World Bank classifies as low-income.
- Lower-middle-income economies
- A 50% discount for corresponding authors based in lower-middle-income countries.
- Individual hardship
- Authors without funding may request a full or partial waiver. Requests are decided by the publisher, never by the editors.
Request a waiver in your cover letter when you submit. Requests made after acceptance cannot usually be considered.
Payment
Invoices are issued by Scholix Publishing LLC after acceptance and can be paid by card or bank transfer. For questions about an invoice, write to info@scholixonline.org.
